An Ideal

The ideal meta of the United States: companies are collectively owned by the workers/employees of that company. The company is free to make profits, so long as their products and processes do not do demonstrable harm or injury to either the environment, the society as a whole, or an individual being in any society. 

The government is designated the enforcer, protector, and trustee of the society, the economy, and the environment. Its contents may be emptied out and replaced at regular periods by the society at large along ranked voting choice parameters. Campaigns for office are limited, with public funds being allocated equally across all candidates, and no further contributions being permitted except for small private donations. The government has the right to produce and enforce legislation, call programs and organizations into being with public funds and other financing mechanisms to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. The government has the authority to limit the power and freedoms of any one individual or small group of individuals who are doing demonstrable harm to the public, the environment, or any person in the society. It too is bound in freedom to the well-being of the general public, and the environment in which the society as a whole lives, and needs to do no actual harm to any individual or group of individuals (just as the private companies are so bound). Failure for the government, or its officials, to act in such an anti-social manner is grounds for their removal from office, and a re-staffing of the government at all levels through the democratic process and due processes of law. Effective policymaking and law enforcement is done with the cooperation and meaningful participation of all actors in a social setting, starting with local knowledge and conditions, and then coordination of those localities up a chain of government from counties and intrastate regions, to the state, to the national, interstate regions, to the nation, the international region of nations, and the global human society and the ecosystem of systems of planet Earth. The top-down must serve the needs and interests appropriately with the very lowest of the low. Otherwise, the base of the mountain becomes unstable, and increasingly likely to rot, erode, and destroy the quality of life and chances of survival for people(s) on Earth (as hypothesized in repeated instances in history).

This should not be taken as a final or complete meta for the United States, or any society throughout the world. It must be adapted to local facts, conditions, interests, and sensibilities. If there is evidence which proves to be more effective at maintaining and sustainably improving the human condition than this general sketch, please adopt that more effective method(s), and pay no more attention to this one. Do not preserve my work except in the history of ideas and part of the evolutionary story of human perception to date. It's not sacred; it's just the production of a babbling brain.
